HR 2.0: The Future of the Federal Human Resources Profession
~ You’re Invited ~
The Partnership for Public Service invites you to join:
- Gail Lovelace, CHCO, General Services Administration
- Jeff Neal, CHCO, Department of Homeland Security
- Suzy Barker, Deputy CHCO, Department of Labor
- Rick Hastings, Deputy CHCO, Department of Treasury
For an action oriented and interactive discussion on attracting, selecting, developing, and retaining our future federal HR leaders. What are the challenges, what needs to be done, who should do it, how should it be done, and when? Our panel of experts will provide a thought provoking summary of the status quo and some suggestions for urgently needed changes.
We will also have a panel discussion of newer, high potential federal HR professionals who will discuss what attracted them to federal HR, what their experiences have been to date, and what they think is needed going forward. Finally, we need your ideas and suggestions.
Issue: The federal government is struggling to meet a number of well-documented workforce challenges on multiple fronts. The approximately 23,000 federal HR professionals in the federal government are – or should be – a vital part of the government’s response to those challenges. Unfortunately, the HR workforce itself is reeling. E.g., it has one of the highest projected retirement rates among all major occupational groups; HR staff competencies have not kept pace with the changing workplace environment; and workloads and demands are increasing.
